National park visitation is growing, reaching a record 331.9 million visits in 2024. Planning trips is challenging because information is spread across many platforms like NPS sites, AllTrails, Google Maps, and others. This makes it time-consuming and confusing, especially for beginners and casual visitors.

Overall, visitors feel uncertain and overwhelmed, highlighting the need for a single, reliable platform that brings all essential information together in one place.

  • U.S. national parks reached a record 331.9 million visits in 2024, increasing the need for better trip planning tools. As crowds grow, parking fills quickly, trails become congested, and navigation is often difficult due to limited or unclear signage. Visitors also rely on multiple sources for updated information on conditions, safety, weather, and crowds, which is often fragmented and outdated. This highlights the need for a single, reliable digital tool that provides real-time updates to make park visits smoother and less stressful.

  • The purpose of this project is to design a digital solution that supports national park visitors through real-time updates on congestion, parking, safety, and navigation, ultimately promoting more efficient planning and a smoother visitor experience.

  • I used Public Sans and Wittgenstein typefaces with simple formatting to keep things clear and easy to read. The design is minimal and focused, so users can move through the app without distraction.

The color palette; black, light blue, dark blue, and greens helps guide attention and shows structure without feeling heavy.
